The EDUFAX Educational FAQ

I am interested in TRANSFERRING.....

Question #9:
  • Why do colleges limit the number of credits a student can transfer?
Answer #9:
  • Colleges limit the number of transfer credits because they believe that they need some control over the degree they award. If a college sets standards for its student body but lets people graduate with a majority of courses from other schools, it loses the integrity of its program. If you could get 90% of your credits elsewhere, and transfer in for the last 10%, who should award your degree?
In addition, financially, it would be very difficult for the more expensive schools to maintain themselves.
College is more than the sum of your classes. It is the absorption of your surroundings and the ambiance that a particular group of students and professors, thinking in diverse and unique ways, can offer.
EDUFAX provides services for the Transfer Student.
