The EDUFAX Educational FAQ

I am interested in SAT/PSAT/ACT.....

Question #90:
  • The SAT will send my SAT II scores directly to 4 colleges, before I get to see the scores. What if the scores are not my best? What if my SAT I scores are higher? What if I retake the SAT and my scores improve? (courtesy Sara Hardyniec, Bringhurst,IN)
Answer #90:
  • Although you are entitled to have SAT I scores sent to four colleges for no extra fee at the time you take the SAT I, no scores are forwarded to schools unless you specifically request that the Educational Testing Service do so on your behalf. When you do specify which colleges should receive your SAT I results, all the scores, single take or multiple takes, are sent. However, it may make you feel better to know that most colleges consider only the highest verbal and the highest math to create your composite score.
Similarly, no SAT II scores are sent out until you specifically request which schools should receive them. In addition, you can use the option of Score Choice with your SAT II to hold scores that you do not wish the colleges to see. Each school you specify will receive only the test scores you request. For example, if you wish to send Japanese, Math and English to one college and Chemistry to another, you can do so. All scores recorded from various administrations of the SAT II are not sent out automatically.
