The EDUFAX Educational FAQ

I am interested in SAT/PSAT/ACT.....

Question #9:
  • I have great difficulty in performing well on the SAT's (math=410, verbal=440) inspite of being an excellent student: I have a 3.7 GPA, I take AP, honor and advanced classes. I am concerned about getting into a good college. (by way of GOCOLLEGE)
Answer #9:
  • There are three reasons for having such a disparity between your proven capability and your test results:
    1. English is not your native tongue.
    2. You have a language-based learning disability (this does not affect intelligence, you can have a genious IQ and still be learning disabled).
    3. You cannot overcome test anxiety and testing does not measure your true intelligence.
I would suggest you talk to your school guidance counselor to see what options exist for educational testing. There are also a few schools which do not require SAT scores. You sound like a good student who has a chance for an excellent school. Perhaps you need an educational consultant who can give you independent time.
EDUFAX provides Verbal Test Prep Tutorials (PSAT/SAT I/SAT II/ACT).
