The EDUFAX Educational FAQ
I am interested in SAT/PSAT/ACT.....
| Question #86: |
- I scored 73 on my PSAT Math & Verbal. I've always
considered myself good at languages. So why is the task of raising
my Verbal SAT score by 50 points or more so daunting ? (courtesy
Travis Bond Hepburn, Omaha, NE)
|
| Answer #86: |
- You certainly are off to a great start. Congratulations!
The math SAT is less abstract than the verbal SAT. If you know what
functions are required, you can usually do the work to find the
correct answer.
On the reading comprehension section of the verbal SAT, however, the
answers are not so clearcut. Deductive reasoning is being measured,
but the reasoning must often be based on material that is only
suggested or implied in the text.
The more you practice, the more you will understand the patterns
with which the SAT develops its questions. The Verbal SAT is far
more subtle than the Math SAT, but practice helps.
EDUFAX provides Verbal Test Prep Tutorials (PSAT/SAT I/SAT II/ACT).
