The EDUFAX Educational FAQ

I am interested in SAT/PSAT/ACT.....

Question #39:
  • What is the SAT II and how is it different from the SAT I ?
Answer #39:
  • The SAT II is a standardized test administered by the College Board, just like the SAT I. However, instead of addressing your abstract abilities to do verbal or math exercises, the SAT II is a specific subject test designed to assess your levels of knowledge in a wide range of subjects including foreign language, history, math, science, etc.
Not all colleges require the SAT II, but those that do generally ask students to take the English Composition, one of the Math levels offered, and a third subject of the student's choice. Before taking any SAT II, you should familiarize yourself with the test structure and subject matter by practicing with a good prep book or computer program. Ask your high school guidance counselor which schools require the SAT II, and read the explanation booklet carefully before you take the test. Each subject test is one hour long, and you can take as many as three in one session.
Although it was once possible to send only the SAT II tests which reflected expertise, the College Board now sends the scores of all SAT I and SAT II tests a student has taken every time a request is made to send scores to a college.
Use the EDUFAX search engine to find Books and Software to assist you in preparing for the PSAT/SAT I/SAT II/ACT.
EDUFAX provides Verbal Test Prep Tutorials (PSAT/SAT I/SAT II/ACT).
