- When you take the ACT, you actually receive 12 different scores:
- 1 composite (scaled) score
- 4 subject scores
- 7 subscores
Your Math subscores (1-36) consist of Pre-Algebra/Elementary
Algebra (1-18), Algebra/Coordinate Geometry (1-18), and Plane
Geometry/Trigonometry (1-18). Don't add them to arrive at the
composite score. The composite score is based on the percentage of
right and wrong answers submitted at a certain testing date. For
each student, the composite score is the average of percentages
correct on the four subject scores.
In the English section, it is mere coincidence that there are two
sections from 1 to 18 which if added would yield 36. Don't add
them. Compare yourself to 36 - the top percentage - in the
composite score, and to 18, the top number, on each of the English
subscores.
I agree it's complicated - I have to review it all the time.
