The EDUFAX Educational FAQ
I am interested in SAT/PSAT/ACT.....
| Question #21: |
- Without any additional preparation, how likely is my
PSAT score to be the same on repeat testing and how likely is my
SAT score to be in the predicted range ?
|
| Answer #21: |
- I wish I could give a definitive answer to your question, but there
are too many unknown factors to do so. For example, what
math level had you completed when you took the sophomore PSAT? Are
there verbal areas in which you are generally weak or strong? Did
you have a good day or were you extremely nervous? Were your scores
consistent with your general academic achievements or did something
seem unusual (high or low)?
The College Board statisticians have calculated their ranges with
data compiled over years of test-takers, but no one can predict
what your specific scores will be, and the ranges are fairly wide.
In short -- the best thing I can tell you is: prepare for the SAT.
Once it was believed that there was no way to prepare, but now even
the Educational Testing Service encourages students to prepare well
in advance of the test date. Find a tutor, get a prep book, or buy
a computer program, but don't assume that you'll fall into scores
predicted by random calculation. EDUFAX provides Verbal Test Prep Tutorials (PSAT/SAT I/SAT II/ACT).
