The EDUFAX Educational FAQ

I am interested in SAT/PSAT/ACT.....

Question #12:
  • Is it true that you can get a perfect score on the SAT even if you do not answer every question correctly ?
Answer #12:
  • Although the SAT uses its own private score conversion system, they award a certain value to each correct answer, and deduct 1/4 of that value for an incorrect answer. They neither add nor deduct points for questions left unanswered. If you leave all the questions unanswered, you would be given only the 200 points for entering your name. It is true, though, that getting a perfect score does not mean that you answered everything correctly. It simply means that you are in the top percentile of all test-takers. For example, if most test-takers answered 2 out of 20 questions, the cohort that answered 3 correctly would score 800.
May the scores be with you!
