Question #119:

My PSAT = 150. I was informed I was in the 50th percentile in my state. However, if you multiply 150 by 10, my SAT score should be 1,500, which is really a good score. Am I confused?

Answer #119:

People who scored 150 on the 2001 PSAT were nominated as semi-finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Search, so I believe you are probably calculating the composite score incorrectly. The score which you multiply by 10 to simulate an SAT conversion is the sum of two scores: the verbal and the math scores. Check your math and verbal scores and see what they add up to.
