What are the options for students who score lower than 18 on the ACT? Can they still apply to colleges and if so, what kinds?

Answer #117:

There is no standard answer to your question. Many factors affect the ACT score. is the student learning disabled? is English the student's native language? are the student's grades in a similar range, better or worse? Sometimes, an extra post-graduate year does wonders to provide maturity for college, both academically and socially. It might also be a good idea to start on the community college level and move into a four year school when all academic obstacles have been dealt with.
