The EDUFAX Educational FAQ

I am interested in SAT/PSAT/ACT.....

Question #107:
  • My daughter scored 217 on the PSAT Selective Index and 1410 on her SAT. How does this score stand up for National Merit? She was disappointed by her SAT score, but I thought it was great.
Answer #107:
  • A score of 1410 on the SAT could never be considered disappointing by any standard. If your daughter wants to raise her SAT score in any section, she has time to improve her skills and take the test again before applying to colleges.
The SAT score does not affect her eligibility for the National Merit Scholarships in any way. The eligibility is based completely on the Selection Index from her junior year PSAT. The number cut-offs determining eligibility for NMSQT commendation or semi-finalist status vary from year to year and from state to state.
EDUFAX provides Verbal Test Prep Tutorials (PSAT/SAT I/SAT II/ACT).
