The EDUFAX Educational FAQ
I am interested in SAT/PSAT/ACT.....
| Question #1: |
- How important are my numbers, e.g.: Transcript, Class Rank, SAT I & II or ACT ?
|
| Answer #1: |
-
Different schools will assess your numbers differently. Some schools have a non-negotiable cut-off. If your SAT scores are not above 1360 and you are not in the first or second decile of your class, you will not be considered. The numbers vary with each school, of course, but this can be true for elitist, small private schools as well as for large, state universities which do initial screening by computer. Other schools will use special circumstances or special attributes (artistic, community service, etc.) to consider scores lower than optimal. Your essay can also be a powerful advocate, showing how well you communicate even though your math score might be in the negative numbers.
EDUFAX provides Services for the High School Collegebound Student and Verbal Test Prep Tutorials (PSAT/SAT I/SAT II/ACT).
