The EDUFAX Educational FAQ

I am interested in RETURNING to school.....

Question #7:
  • I am 30 years old and have decided to become a Dental Hygienist. I have been told I need to take the ACT. I am very concerned because I have been out of school for 12 years. What should I do? (courtesy Stacy Napier, Moline, IL)
Answer #7:
  • Absolutely do not give up on your dreams!
There are many ways to deal with this issue. Look at a sample ACT in a library. Discover which particular facets of the test are problematic for you. You could take a practice test at a nationally known review center near you (Kaplan, Princeton, to name two) and see which fields on the ACT cause you the greatest difficulty. Then it might be possible to get some tutoring and practice which would bring you up to speed. You can practice with ACT prep CD-ROMs or books. You can find them on the 'Net and compare their prices by using the power specialized search engine available on the EDUFAX site.
Be aware that many many schools have different requirements for re-entry students and not all require the ACT.
At age 30 you have many years of a productive career ahead of you.
    DO NOT GIVE UP!
EDUFAX provides services for the Adult/Non-Traditional/Re-entry Student.
