The EDUFAX Educational FAQ

I am interested in RETURNING to school.....

Question #22:
  • I am interested in information on senior eduction. I have heard that some colleges offer free education for seniors.
Answer #22:
  • You are absolutely correct! Many colleges offer free or reduced tuition fees to senior citizens, and professors report that their senior participants are often the best students in the class.
You should first contact the schools in your geographical area, including community colleges which are often a comfortable starting place for people who have not been to school in a while. The Department of Higher Education in your state should also be able to point you in the right direction.
Many schools offer seniors the option of auditing classes, a system which lets you accrue the knowledge, but not the credits.
    Good Luck!
