The EDUFAX Educational FAQ

I am interested in RETURNING to school.....

Question #14:
  • I had a shaky college background before entering the Marine Corps, but have since matured. I am now leaving the Marines for college and am worried whether I should cover up my past. (courtesy Gregory P. Ruby Jr., Camp Smith, HI)
Answer #14:
  • There is no need to cover up your prior college experience. Be frank about it, and tell the admissions officers why you were not ready the first time around. Describe your time in the Marine Corps to show how it made you reconsider the value of education. Show how you have matured and what you now value.
Your time in the service should definitely be an asset to your application, especially since you served in such a prestigious branch of the armed forces.
EDUFAX provides services for the Adult/Non-Traditional/Re-entry Student.
