The EDUFAX Educational FAQ
I have a LEARNING DISABILITY.....
| Question #60: |
- My daughter's school has requested psychoeducational
testing. Is there a federal law that states who has the financial
responsibility for the cost of testing? Please let me know where I
can read that law for myself?
|
| Answer #60: |
- When a public school system brings a family into the spectrum of
special education services, they are required to provide printed
information concerning your specific rights as parents in your
state. If the request came from the school, they will assume the
costs of the testing as long as you have it done by school system
personnel. If you choose to use outside testers, however, the school
system has the right to decide whether or not to reimburse you.
Since I am not a lawyer, I hesitate to give the definitive word on
legal matters. However, there are many sites defining educational
law on the internet, including Wrightslaw.com where education law specialists Peter and Pam Wright address such
problems.
