The EDUFAX Educational FAQ
I have a LEARNING DISABILITY.....
| Question #51: |
- Do public universities allow students with Learning
Disabilities to register early for classes?
|
| Answer #51: |
- The procedures are different at each school.
Where there is no centralized program for LD students, there is
usually no early registration. However, most schools will
accommodate individual requests based on valid and documented
disability issues. Some schools have special orientation programs
lasting two or three days for students with LD so that they can get
used to the campus and all of its resources before things get too
hectic.
The academic advisor should also be able to help ensure that
students with learning differences enroll in classes with the proper
balance of difficulty. It is also the advisor's job to help the
student plan a long-term program which will allow for completion of
the degree in a reasonable period of time with a course load each
semester that is not stressful or taxing.
EDUFAX provides services for the Learning Disabled Student.
