The EDUFAX Educational FAQ
I have a LEARNING DISABILITY.....
| Question #40: |
- My daughter has LD. The college she is interested
in offers a Tutoring Center, but in order to pass the finals,
she will need a personal tutor. How can she get a tutor assigned
to her?
|
| Answer #40: |
- Students who know they will need specific learning supports at
college should make sure to choose a school which can guarantee
that those supports are available. Your daughter should visit
the Resource Center or Tutoring Center before the semester
begins and learn exactly what procedures she must follow in
order to set up the support she requires.
A school which offers services on an erratic basis is not the
right environment for a student who needs consistent support.
Support services should be investigated during the college
selection process just as carefully as academic curriculum and
other important factors of college life.
If the school cannot commit to providing the supports your
daughter is sure she will need, look elsewhere.
You can find the home pages of these and many other colleges on
the EDUFAX site.
