Are there residential schools for an LD student who is not quite ready for the transition to college ? Vocational counseling would be ideal. (courtesy Susan Maclean, Williamsville, NY)

Answer #18:

There definitely are residential schools for LD students. Children with LD can have (or not have!) a wide range of learning and social differences. If the students needs vocational counseling, will he/she be able to attend college? Without seeing the academic and educational reports, records and evaluations, it is impossible to know what kind of placement to recommend. In addition, children with LD can have IQs that range from low to gifted. Each child with LD is a different compendium of strengths and difficulties. EDUFAX provides services for the Learning Disabled Student.
