The EDUFAX Educational FAQ

I am an INTERNATIONAL, FOREIGN STUDENT interested in applying to an American college.....

Question #24:
  • I have an MD degree from outside the USA. I would like to study Clinical Psychology in the USA. Will I need to obtain a BA before applying to graduate school ?
Answer #24:
  • If you completed a BA or BS before receiving your MD degree, most US graduate schools will not require you to complete a second bachelor's degree before entering a graduate program in Clinical Psychology. If you come from a country which allows medical students to concentrate on their professional studies program without completing an undergraduate degree, you might be asked to make up some undergraduate requirements.
You should be aware that competition is fierce for graduate programs in Clinical Psychology. In order to be considered a viable applicant, you might be required to take several courses in related areas which were not part of your previous academic program. It is best to ask each individual school about their specific requirements.
EDUFAX provides services for the International Applicant.
