The EDUFAX Educational FAQ
I am an INTERNATIONAL, FOREIGN STUDENT interested in applying to an American college.....
| Question #20: |
- I am an international student from India and my TOEFL
= 593, my SATI Verbal = 430 and my Math = 610. I am in the top 5% of
my class. What are my chances of getting into a "good college"? (courtesy Vivek Kumar, Bangalore, India)
|
| Answer #20: |
-
If I were in your place, I would take the TOEFL again and study to
bring up my verbal SAT. Your class rank and SAT math are excellent
and should stand you in good stead.
It is really impossible to define the term "good college". Although
the rankings wars in the US have led many to believe that colleges
are inherently good or bad by where they fall on the list, it is
possible to acquire an excellent education at many fine schools
across the spectrum. I don't have information about average SAT
scores for international students, but many colleges with
competitive admissions like to see at least 600 on the TOEFL before
they will admit an international student.
EDUFAX provides services for the International Applicant.
