The EDUFAX Educational FAQ

I am an INTERNATIONAL, FOREIGN STUDENT interested in applying to an American college.....

Question #19:
  • I am interested in studying abroad and wanted some information about the International Baccalaureate.
Answer #19:
  • The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a program adopted by many high schools to provide an intensive academic experience for talented students. It is not as well known as the AP system, though the courses are equally challenging. It is similar to the AP in that testing can be taken in specific disciplines. Nevertheless, you must be careful about course offerings and their validity. Some colleges use IB results to replace placement exams or other forms of standardized testing. As with all measures, it is critical to know the institutional policy of every school you are considering. The schools you contact should be happy to tell you the details of their policies on credit for IB courses.
EDUFAX provides services for the International Applicant.
