My TOEFL score is 530. The school I am interested in requires a score of 550 for graduate studies. I have lived in California for more than 6 years. How can I convince the school to consider my application ?

Answer #9:

Some schools will consider applicants whose scores are 10% under their required minimum, so you might still be eligible for the program which interests you. It would be best to contact the school directly and inquire about your chances. It might also be possible to take one of their placement tests so that they could have another reference for your level of English proficiency.
