I am applying to graduate school and am concerned about my essay. What needs to come across stronger in my essay: my thoughts about the future or my actions of the past ?

Answer #3:

You are forgetting something critically important. Who are you today ? The present is more important right now than the past or future. Give a short history of what made you consider the particular field you have chosen and then describe what you have to contribute as you develop with the program.
