Question #87:

Our school district does not provide 'weighted grades' for AP classes. We have heard that this can be a disadvantage when our son applies to college.

Answer #87:

Your son should be commended for taking challenging classes even though he is not given extra points for them.
When transcripts from all over the country arrive in a college admissions office, the first thing that the readers do is translate the numbers to reflect a completely unweighted grade system. Otherwise, it would be unfair to measure unweighted grades against those which carry extra weight.
Your son will not suffer at all from his high school's policy.
