The EDUFAX Educational FAQ

I am interested in COLLEGE.....

Question #70:
  • I am interested in receiving a scholarship in track. How do I notify the schools that I am interested in being recruited? (courtesy Lindsey Bulkley, Derry, NH)
Answer #70:
  • First, notify your high school coach that you are interested in college track. Ask the coach to contact schools which interest you and perhaps to suggest schools at which he or she is familiar with the track program and their coaches.
Next, check the NCAA list on the internet to see which schools have women's track. Use the services of your guidance counselor or an educational consultant to start making a list of schools which interest you academically and which offer appropriate athletics. Then start contacting the athletic directors of these schools to learn more about the track programs.
When you go for an interview, you should make sure to meet with the athletic director and/or coaches in additon to the admissions officers.
Lastly, check the NCAA rules for athletic recruiting to make sure you do not do anything which might jeopardize your eligibility. Good Luck!
