The EDUFAX Educational FAQ

I am interested in COLLEGE.....

Question #50:
  • I heard that colleges will preferentially consider an applicant who went to private school over an applicant from public school. Is that true ? (courtesy Andy Volpe, Bothell, WA)
Answer #50:
  • Admissions officers are well versed in the curricula of high schools all over the country -- in fact, all over the world. The preference is not for public over private -- it is for the difficulty of curriculum and the challenge which a student has sought. They do not fault students for having no APs if the school offers none; however, if the high school offers many and the student takes none, they identify a lack of intellectual motivation.
EDUFAX provides services for the Collegebound High School Student.
