The EDUFAX Educational FAQ

I am interested in COLLEGE.....

Question #24:
  • How do I go about getting my teacher recommendations ?
Answer #24:
  • Some high schools offer a generic Teacher Recommendation Form which can be given to any teacher and will be accepted by any college. You can also get a semi-generic Teacher Recommendation Form from the Common Application. Since teachers often have dozens of these time-consuming reports to write, it is never too early to make your request. Give each teacher a copy of the Teacher Recommendation Form, and a summary or resume of your in-school and out-of-school activities (so that they can see how well-rounded you are!). After several days, write a thank you note. Make sure to keep these teachers informed of your final decision. They have invested a lot of time and effort in you.
