Answer #197:

The GPA is simply your Grade Point Average. The grades for every credit-bearing academic course are averaged. Certain courses are weighted: for instance, in some schools, 0.5 is added to the GPA calculation for an Advanced Placement course or a course that has been given the designation Honors. Physical Education courses are generally not included in the GPA, and some school systems also exclude elective, non-academic courses. Be aware that the college admissions officers remove all weighting before they consider your final GPA. For a more detailed explanation, consult your school's guidance counselor to find out what specific practices determine the final GPA in your school.
