The EDUFAX Educational FAQ

I am interested in COLLEGE.....

Question #190:
  • I am a junior. My GPA=4.33, class rank=117/676, my PSAT=1230, SAT I=1180. What are my chances of getting into Berkeley?
Answer #190:
  • Your grades are excellent, but in order to gain admission to Berkeley, you will need to raise your SAT scores and to score at least 2100 (combined) on 3 SAT II tests. I suggest you find a tutor to help you prepare for the SAT so that your chances of admission will improve.
If you are a California resident, the admission cutoffs are somewhat lower, but Berkeley is still the hardest admit in the UC system. There are some applicants, however, who are not admitted according to numbers. The Admissions Committee offers the opportunity to some students who show potential, but who have not had some of the advantages which make it easier to achieve high scores in standardized testing. I can't predict if you will be admitted, but I can certainly say that your application will be seriously considered.
    Good Luck!
