The EDUFAX Educational FAQ
I am interested in COLLEGE.....
| Question #188: |
- I attend a private, boarding high school. If I am doing well and
take accelerated courses at my school, are my chances better
than if I were to attend public high school?
|
| Answer #188: |
- Most colleges are aware that the curricula at good independent
schools can be very rigorous, some more so than the curricula at
many public schools. The admissions officers who read your
application materials will probably be familiar with the
academic level of your private school and will keep the demands
of your secondary curriculum in mind when they assess your
transcript.
It is extremely important to take the most challenging courses
your school offers if you are applying to very selective
colleges. Colleges respect students who take difficult courses
more that students who opt for easy A's. This is true regardless
of whether your school is private or public.
