The EDUFAX Educational FAQ

I am interested in COLLEGE.....

Question #134:
  • I am a junior. My GPA=3.83, my PSAT=73/78/80. I got an A in AP Biology and an A in AP Chemistry. I neglected to take Chemistry SAT II. Does my living in Berkeley, CA, improve my chances of getting into UC Berkeley ?
Answer #134:
  • You are certainly fortunate to be living in one of the most beautiful towns I have even seen. Unfortunately, it gives you no advantage over any other California resident as far as admission to UC Berkeley is concerned.
As far as your SAT IIs, you can use score choice and send only the SAT IIs you choose. If you are interested in the UC system, they will count your three highest scores. The requirements for the UC schools are changing this coming fall, so make sure your high school counselor has the updated numbers for UC Berkeley and the other UC schools.
